OctPoWriMo Day 13 - Outside the Box

"Thinking outside the box' is ridiculous nonsense, since whatever you can do in a 'box' or closed environment is not 'thinking'."  Martinus Hendrikus Benders

“Boxes are for objects, not humans.” ― Abhijit Naskar

What kind of box holds you? Is it one of your own making, or did others trap you there? What will it take to break free? If you've already broken free, what helped you do so?

The boxes that hold us can be many things: work, gender, clothing, sexuality, family, religion, etc. Boxes can be so comfortable that coming out is terrifying and even painful sometimes. But the freedom is usually worth it.

Word Prompts:

Chains
Freedom
Breakthrough
Open mind
Flight

Suggested Poetry Type:

Pantoum

or

Oddquain

Dance and Movement:

Remember, our prompts are only suggestions, you can find your inspiration wherever your muse leads you. 11. Day 13, #OctPoWriMo

This platform provides such positive energy! After a long day at work, I feel rejuvenated writing and allowing my creative thoughts to flow freely all around ! Thank you!

Will follow the “ Free Verse” since that’s the way my thoughts are taking me today.

  13. Oh, I love this prompt, because I've often said that losing my husband makes it feel as though I was on an epic road trip with the best navigator ever, and then he just... was gone. And then the road in front of me was gone; and the road behind me was gone, and I was in a box from which I could not escape: can't go forward, can't go back...

My point is, this metaphor absolutely spoke to me. I offer my humble attempt at an oddquain butterfly, Crypt or Chrysalis?

  14. I opted not to write about the gruesome subject that is me and wrote about a sunflower instead.
    Sunflower

    1. Self care that way is good I believe! And to meet a prompt that feels too dark with a sunflower is (again, to me) a wonderful protest against the darkness.
